Colorado

Howard and I rode up to Maroon Bells ...

Goodbye Georgia Vermont!

I'm on my way now across country. Vermont was great but I'm closing the chapter ...

Bike Ride around St Albans Bay in Vermont

This was across the street actually ... about three Blue Hearings flew by ... It was pretty cool. I missed the shot but got this one...

Burton Island

I paddled out to Burton today like many others. This little "Tupelo" canoe is 29 pounds, easy to throw in the water and I can still enjoy the sun. Actually it paddles pretty well. This shot is looking back towards the house. It's just below that dot in the middle. At the end of Burton Island is this nice park area to pull the boat up.

On my way into Burlington...

Yesterday and Today ... hard to stop taking pictures

A little Motocross up near Newport, Vermont

On Sunday I went with my "roommate" Dan to see his son in a bike race ... It was a lot greener than California motocross tracks. That's Jay Peak in the background.

Biking around Lake Champlain

The House in Georgia

New Projects on the house: window boxes, flowers, , weeding, painted the foundation, and painted the front door ... Looks pretty good huh?

Thursday evening at Snow Farm Vinyard

Kayak trip on the Lamoile in Vt

The camping on Grand Isle went ok but with a bit of rain. In Vermont you just have to get out and go despite the threat of rain. So I did! I went for a long paddle down the Lamoile River. Thunder boomers in the background but everything turned out all right ...

Rain, Rain Go Away!

Back in the Tent, another rainy night ...

More cow shots...

I got hungry and inventive ...
So I walked in a country store and said "Nice day huh" (It was durring another down pour) .... "Yeaaaugh, If your a duck" he said

July 4th in South Hero

It's probably better that you can't see their faces ...

These guys were huge!

Camping on Grand Isle

Joe, I'd make you proud! Yum, yum
Got a nice break in weather .... Beautiful and calm

After a lot of hard work I rented my place out for the week of the 4th. I'm staying in Grand Isle

doing a little camping .... a little kayaking and cooking ... Salmon the first night ....

Working hard ...

I think it has paid off... new flower boxes, moved plants around, mulched and lots of weeding.

The new tenants are in for the week I hope to get out on the boat and do some hiking and biking ... PS I hate that power line... It always dominates in my photos!

Vermooont!

Back in Georgia, Vermont

400 Miles to Go!

For Purple skies ...(for real!) going across the islands of Vt.
I completely forgot what day it was so I called Tricia. Yeah! Thursday! Snow Farm Vineyard on the way home has concerts on Thursday nights! Tammi Fletcher was playing ... a local favorite. I saw an old volleyball friend Sue, and had a glass of wine before continuing on to see Tricia in Georgia ....

After taking the "90" another 100 miles I had enough of Interstate highways... Got on the 81 and then the "3 east " across the Adirondacks ... It would have been nice if I was not in a down pour. But Watertown reminded me of why I wanted to get the Northeast feel back in my blood. I thought it also would be nostalgic to take the ferry across to South Hero.

Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls was beautiful. I spent the night at a KOA campground and was in the "Park" by 7:00am. Actually it was quite nice to be there early to enjoy the falls without the mobs of people. Highly recommended! "Natural Wonders" shouldn't feel like Disneyland.

See how tiny the ferry is ?

Horseshoe falls ( should be rainbow falls)

Going North... New York

Up State New York has a lot of Vineyards! I'm heading up to Niagara Falls... Buffalo is pretty brown ...

Cleveland, Ohio

I passed right by Chicago ... Too many lane changes so I aimed right for Cleveland. I found a nice downtown area with a bike path. It reminded me a lot of Burlington. (Except no mountains to ski nearby) Snow without mountains ... How can that be?

There was a sailing class. They looked like Sabots but with a "gaft" rig (?) (like the sailfish) Burlington does not have buildings like these.

Iowa some more ...

I still think Iowa is one of the most beautiful states. Beautiful farm lands. It was hard to get a shot that does it justice because by the time you get close enough they are hidden from the highway and weather. (trees and hills) People go for days with no view in the big ocean ... You just need to kick back and relax ... I bought for the road a "Learn to speak Spanish" CD set to be a little more productive...

Coffee Shop in Williamsburg, Iowa

So here I am: Taking my time today...

Nebraska

Lots of this:

Still Reminders of the Pony Express days. This time I stopped. I don't think the believed me when I told them I was related ... (some goof with California plates)

Glenwood Springs Canyon

After passing through Glenwood Springs I discovered that they had built a new road going through the Canyon. They also added a long bike path along the way. I stopped to do 14 miles of it. Sometimes your right on the river ... Allie I thought of you a lot today.

Then passing through Vail territory I couldn't believe all the changes ... The whole valley is covered with new development ... Bad part is, no camping or more importantly no showers! Discouraged I continued my trip ... Found a Shower at a KOA campground a hundred(s) miles away $5.00 and my spirits came back up.

Colorado

So now I'm in Colorado after spending the night in Glenwood Springs. I found a nice coffee shop to get on the Internet and give you all an update. I plan to head for Vail and find lots of excuses to take my time and enjoy the place ... Am I half way yet?

Utah

This guy is hard to get around!

Rt 50 earlier on:

A "Sand Paradice"

Detour Moab:

Found a hike along rt 128 through "Bills Canyon"

Nevada

Just Beyond Delta Nevada... Starting to look a little more green .... Up and down open valleys and over passes up to 7,000 feet. Not much out here ... Better keep that gas tank full! Tiny towns 75 or more miles apart ... Yup lonely!

Found near Leham Caves:

Goofy Shots along the way rt 50

A Tree of Shoes!

Rt 50 Nevada

I'm off! I chose Rt 50East ... I think I figured out why they call it the loneliest Rt in the US! Reminders of The Pony Express Route were along the way:

First Stop: Pamela in Tahoe

It was great meeting up with Pamela ...

Tahoe

So I'm all packed and ready to go! First stop is Tahoe to meet Pamela. I arrived here about 8:30 last night. We went out to Moody's Restaurant for dinner. A real treat... Great Jazz music, great food and nice company. - Cherries Coffee house in Truckee -

This past weekend I hit the Magee Trail.

Rock Creek

Last week I hiked Rock Creek south of Mammoth. It was amazing... Lake after Lake the whole way up. I made it up to the Treasure Lakes.

Yosemite Valley

Joe, Brent and I took a trip to Yosemite Valley a coulple of weeks ago. It's only two hours away. Not bad huh? Actually Brooke took this last summer.
This is me in May 2007...
